How to maintain a laptop battery

Two things differentiate a laptop from a desktop; battery and portability. A laptop is portable and has a battery meaning your laptop will be powered even after electricity goes off. With a laptop, you will not worry about saving your work because electricity will go off abruptly. You can operate your laptop for hours with a good battery. A new laptop will last longer on battery but as time goes, you will discover that it's power storage capability has reduced drastically. You may wonder why? The simple reason is because you did not maintain your laptop battery. Therefore lend me your attention as I teach you how to maintain your laptop battery. Maintaining your laptop battery will definitely extend your battery life.

How to maintain and extend laptop battery life :

* Do not overcharge your laptop battery. - Never leave your laptop plugged in 24/7. Your batt will indicate the percentage level therefore when it indicates 100 %, please do the courtesy of plugging out. Overcharging is what kills most batteries. If you are so tired to unplug your charger, then why don't you switch to a desktop computer?

* Do not exhaust battery power completely - Before powering off your pc, ensure your batt is at least partially charged.

* Avoid turning your pc in sleep mode -  sleep mode not only weakness your laptop battery, but it also kills your processor.

* Reduce external devices -  Unplug unused external devices like flash disks, mouse and keyboards.

* Turn off pc when not in use -  let your battery rest.

* Ensure your pc is well ventilated - Avoid placing your pc on blankets or warm surfaces. Let your pc receive cool air and this will reduce heating and make your battery last longer.

* Boost your RAM -  Increased ram means fast and efficient pc operation and your battery will last longer.

* Enable power saver mode

* Reduce screen brightness - brightness drains battery power

* Remove unused cd/dvd from your drive.
